Treatments & Modalities
Please see below the treatments, techniques and modalities on offer at Ratcliffe Referrals Veterinary Physiotherapy. Imogen is pleased to offer: massage therapy, myofascial release, PEMFT, laser therapy, TENS, NMES and manual therapies including passive stretching and joint mobilisations.
Massage Therapy & Myofascial Release
Massage therapy is equally beneficial for equine and canine athletes as it is for human athletes. Massage therapy reduces trigger points, improves circulation, reduces toxins and spasms and improves function.
Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT)
Electromagnetic field therapy can be used for pain management and has seen improvements in delayed-union fracture repair.
Laser therapy functions on a cellular level to derive therapeutic benefit. Laser therapy has seen benefits in wound healing, reducing muscle spasm and managing osteoarthritis, to name a few.
Tailored Remedial Exercise Programmes
Imogen is trained in remedial exercise to induce therapeutic benefit. Targeted exercise can: increase joint range of motion, strengthen tissue and restore function. Exercise plans are tailored to the animal's ability and condition.
